Founded in 1936 by Abe and Effa Manley, the Newark Eagles became one of the Negro Leagues’ premier franchises and captured the 1946 Negro World Series Championship. Home to icons such as Larry Doby, Monte Irvin, Leon Day, Ray Dandridge, and Biz Mackey, the Eagles produced talent that would help integrate Major League Baseball and redefine America’s pastime.
